Samed Island is in Rayong province, about 200 km south-east of Bangkok. The most convenient way traveling from Bangkok to Koh Samed is by a chauffeured car or a minivan.

The travel time from Bangkok to Ban Phe is around 2.5 – 3 hours, depending on the traffic. There are a few regular options to reach Koh Samed and to return to the mainland conveniently – a regular shared boat, a ferry and a speedboat service.

1. By a regular shared boat service – from the port in Ban Phe to the village called Nadan in Samed takes 30-40 minutes for 50-60 Baht per person. The boats leave Ban Phe every hour from 6 am – 6 pm. From Nadan Pier on Samed Island, you can take a taxi to Tubtim beach. It costs 50 Baht per person or 200 Baht for the whole car.
2. By a scheduled ferry service – The ferry leaves the mainland every hour from Ban Phe Ferry Pier to Nadan Pier. The trip takes around 10-15 minutes only and costs around 100-150 Baht per person.
3. Another and highly recommended option is to travel by speedboat direct from Ban Phe to Tubtim beach. The boats leave from Phe Pier (opposite 7/11 shop) and cost 300 Baht per person. The speedboats leave irregularly.
